Media NewsPet Crematory Gains PermitsBrattleboro ReformerMarilyn George and Steve Hellus of Brattleboro have secured approval for all local and Vermont state permits for a new service to the community and surrounding area (southwestern New Hampshire and northwestern Massachusetts) -- a pet crematory. The crematory would operate in an existing building on George's property in West Brattleboro. The business will be named White Rose Pet Memorial Services, LC. Co-owners George and Hellus plan cooperative relationships with area veterinarians, pet clinics and humane societies, and will include pick up and transport of deceased domestic animals (and small farm animals) to the crematory as part of their services. George and Hellus, members of the International Association of Pet Cemeteries (IAPC) recently attended the 31st IAPC Annual Convention in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where they met with other proprietors of pet crematories from across the nation and gathered firsthand knowledge of crematory operations. George and Hellus firmly stand behind IAPC's strict code of ethics and are committed to treating all pets with the dignity and respect they inherently deserve. Although both expect the bulk of their business to be conducted in cooperation with animal-care facilities, they will also offer services directly to individuals who want to assure themselves that their deceased pets are receiving compassionate treatment. These services will include opportunities for people to pay final respect to their pets in a private, comfortable environment, and if desired, to witness their pet's private cremation. Private memorial services will be arranged by appointment only. George and Hellus are committed to treating every pet and pet owner with the same compassion and professionalism they would choose for their pets and themselves. They anticipate the business to be operational mid-to late October, 2002. We are committed to treating all pets with dignity and respect they inherently deserve.
